Firstly, accompanied by calming music, the class leader will take you through some simple breathing, visualisation and easy self-massage exercises.
The musical part of the evening lasts for around 45 minutes, and involves listening to music of various styles and some (optional) singing. There are songs which you might sing to your baby; others help you to focus on your feelings and thoughts towards your baby; there are those which reflect on what your baby might be thinking or feeling, where others highlight the more ludicrous elements of pregnancy, birth and early days with baby! The sessions also include a selection of classic and original lullabies for you to learn so that you are musically equipped to sing to your brand new baby.
The whole session encourages bonding and taking time out for yourself, whilst exploring the complex emotions involved in pregnancy.
The sessions conclude with fruit tea and the opportunity for you to talk and share your experiences with the other mums.
Fresh drinking water and cushions are provided, but feel free to bring your own. Comfortable clothes should be worn, with an extra pair of socks and a cardigan in case you feel cold.
You may now wish to know what other mums think about the classes, about how to find a class in your area, or even running classes of your own.
